Net direct tax kitty swells 13% to Rs 21.27 lakh crore so far in FY25, STT collections rise 55%

According to official data issued on March 17, net direct tax collection increased 13.1% to over Rs 21.27 lakh crore so far this fiscal year.

According to data from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), net corporate tax collection was Rs 9.69 lakh crore between April 1, 2024, and March 16, 2025, compared to Rs 9.05 lakh crore during the same period last year.

The amount collected from net non-corporate taxes, primarily personal income tax, was Rs 11.01 lakh crore.

As of this fiscal year, net securities transaction tax (STT) receipts was Rs 53,095 crore, up from Rs 34,131 crore during the same period last year.
