Massive selloff in PSUs; mcap share falls to a 15-month low

In February, the total market capitalization of 103 publicly traded PSU companies was Rs 57.43 lakh crore, which represents a decrease of Rs 24 lakh crore from its peak of Rs 81.38 lakh crore in July. By contrast, their January and December market capitalizations were Rs 64.88 lakh crore and Rs 66.34 lakh crore, respectively. Due to ongoing selling pressure, the market capitalization of the BSE's listed public sector companies has fallen to a 15-month low. From a peak of 17.77 percent in May 2024, PSU stocks represented 14.61 percent of the total market capitalization of all BSE-listed companies as of February, the lowest since November 2023.
