Investors make nearly ₹7 lakh crore as the Sensex gains 1.5%

On Tuesday, March 18, leading indices the Sensex and the Nifty recorded strong increases amid encouraging global cues, extending advances for the second straight session. The Nifty 50 ended the day up 326 points, or 1.45%, at 22,834.30, while the Sensex jumped 1,131 points, or 1.53%, to finish at 75,301.26.

The BSE Smallcap index jumped 2.73 percent, while the BSE Midcap index closed 2.10 percent higher.

The total market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE increased from ₹393 lakh crore to approximately ₹400 lakh crore in a single session, making investors richer by roughly ₹7 lakh crore.
