India is unlikely to receive relief as the US may demand zero tariffs on nearly all goods.

According to a March 6 report by CNBC-TV18, the US administration has dealt India a serious blow by requesting zero tariffs on almost all of its commodities, with the exception of agricultural products that are exchanged between the two nations.

Importantly, the government of US President Donald Trump is unlikely to provide New Delhi any exception from the reciprocal tariffs that would take effect on April 2.

This follows Trump's constant criticism of "unfair" trade practices in India and other nations.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the White House last month, Trump also singled out New Delhi for excessive tariffs.
