Patanjali and others will own 98 percent of Magma Insurance after the sale. Sanoti Properties, one of the companies selling its stake in the general insurance firm, is owned by Adar Poonawalla to the tune of 90%.
Sanoti Properties, controlled by Adar Poonawalla, has made the decision to sell Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved and other organizations its share in its insurance company Magma General Insurance.
Following the sale, Baba Ramdev's Patanjali would own 98 percent of the insurance company, which is worth Rs 4,500 crore according to the deal. The second major purchaser is the Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), which operates in a number of industries, including food and beverage, dairy, and hospitality.
One of the companies selling the Magma interest is Sanoti Properties, of which Adar Poonawalla owns 90%. According to the insurer's official website, as of November 2024, Sanoti and Rising Sun Holdings, the Cyrus Poonawalla Group's holding company, own 72.49 percent of the business.
This decision was reached by the board of the corporation on March 12, 2025. Sanoti Properties LLP, Celica Developers Private Limited, Jaguar Advisory Services Private Limited, Keki Mistry, the former chairman of HDFC, Atul DP Family Trust, Shahi Sterling Exports Private Limited, QRG Investments and Holdings Limited, and others are among the purchasers in the deal.
