Due to US sanctions, India's imports of Russian crude oil fell 11% in February.

To protect itself from the geopolitical unpredictabilities, India increased its crude oil supply from unconventional sources like Nigeria, Brazil, and others during the month. As a result of US sanctions on Russian oil companies, India's imports of crude oil from Russia fell more than 11% month over month in February. The impact on Russian oil flow in the market is highlighted by the decline in Russian oil flow to India, which comes after a 13 percent month-over-month increase in crude imports from Moscow in January.

The amount of crude oil that India, one of the largest consumers of Russian oil, imported from Moscow in February increased from 1.67 million barrels per day (bpd) to 1.48 million bpd.
