After Donald Trump levies a 104% tariff on Beijing, the White House says it was a mistake for China to retaliate.

The White House claimed on Tuesday that China's retaliation against the United States following the imposition of 104% tariffs on the world's second-largest economy was an error.

China's retaliation was a mistake. America strikes back more forcefully when he is punched. Because of this, China will be subject to 104% tariffs starting tonight. At a news briefing on Tuesday, White House news Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, "He will be extremely gracious if China reaches out to make a deal."

The statement follows China's declaration of 34% punitive tariffs on US goods following President Trump's proposal of a reciprocal tariff strategy on April 2.
