The managing director of Kotak Mahindra AMC, Nilesh Shah, believes that a long-term negative market trend is unlikely to occur without an unanticipated shock.
According to experience, a long-term bear market doesn't begin at a fair value market and move to an inexpensive market without some outside shock, such as the Wuhan virus or the US Subprime crisis.
He thinks that most large caps and many small and mid caps are presently near their fair value from a fundamental perspective following the recent steep decline. "They are neither cheap nor expensive."
He thinks the promoter has a larger stake in wealth creation than the sector when he bets on sectors. consequently, "always back the promoter who has the vision to achieve something, executes his vision through hard work and has respect for minority shareholders," he stated.
